Vice President of Operations
SUMMARY
The Vice President of Operations leads operations across a large, multi-site region, combining strategic leadership with hands-on operational oversight to drive consistent execution, strong financial performance, continuous improvement, and industry-leading standards of product freshness and quality. Reporting directly to the Chief Operations Officer, this role is a key member of the senior leadership team and is accountable for results across store operations, partnering closely with buying, logistics, merchandising, food safety, human resources, and finance to build high-performing teams and reinforce company culture and values.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
As Vice President of Operations, the following responsibilities are core to the role:
- Direct responsibility for regional operating results, including sales, profitability, and inventory shrinkage across 50+ warehouse locations.
- Lead and oversee all aspects of regional operations, ensuring consistent execution of operational standards, policies, and procedures.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators; regularly review results and drive corrective action plans to improve performance.
- Provide executive leadership to regional and local management teams, ensuring accountability at all levels.
- Build, develop, and retain a strong leadership pipeline through disciplined talent assessment, hands-on training, and succession planning.
- Ensure effective labor planning, workforce stability, and organizational structure aligned with business needs.
- Partner with procurement, logistics, and corporate teams to optimize supply chain execution, with a particular focus on perishables.
- Foster a culture of operational excellence, safety, integrity, and continuous improvement.
- Utilize data and analytics to drive informed decision-making and improve operational outcomes.
- Collaborate closely with the COO and peer leaders to align regional execution with enterprise strategy.
- Demonstrate sound judgment and effective problem-solving in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
- Lead by example, consistently modeling the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.
- Travel is required to effectively lead and support the region (approximately 2-3 days per week)
REQUIRED MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field required.
- Extensive senior-level operations leadership experience within multi-site distribution, retail, or foodservice environments.
- Proven success in:
- Driving strong P&L performance across large, complex regions.
- Leading and developing high-performing, multi-level management teams.
- Creating a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Strong analytical and data-driven leadership approach.
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly within the assigned region.
