About the Role
Our client, a Tier 1 automotive stamping manufacturer supplying directly to General Motors, is seeking a results-driven Logistics Manager to lead all logistics, shipping, receiving, materials management, and supplier sourcing operations. Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, this position will oversee the full logistics strategy for a UAW union facility, ensuring materials flow efficiently from suppliers to production to customer delivery.
The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with strong leadership experience in high-volume manufacturing and a proven ability to streamline operations and manage cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities

Oversee all logistics operations, including shipping, receiving, materials management, and supplier sourcing.

Lead and mentor direct reports including the Manager of Shipping & Receiving and the Materials Manager.

Develop and implement logistics strategies to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and optimize inventory levels.

Ensure on-time delivery of materials and products to meet production and customer schedules.

Maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating terms and ensuring reliable sourcing.

Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality departments to ensure smooth material flow.

Manage logistics KPIs, budgets, and reporting to support continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Ensure compliance with all union agreements, safety standards, and company policies.

Support corporate and plant initiatives related to lean manufacturing and process improvement.
Qualifications / Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field (Master’s preferred).

Minimum 8–10 years of logistics or materials management experience in manufacturing.

Experience in a Tier 1 automotive or stamping environment strongly preferred.

Prior leadership experience in a union (UAW) setting.

Proven success in supplier sourcing and logistics optimization.

Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive performance metrics.
