Designs, coordinates and manages automation projects required for our clients Manufacturing. Identifies opportunities for automation including robotics, data collection, energy savings, improve efficiencies safety & etc… Ensures that all automated systems meet required functions and production needs. Works closely with Engineering, Machine Tool Operation, Plant Services, Maintenance and Plant personnel to develop and install new and rebuilt systems.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
o Review project scope.
o Review sequence of operations.
o Create bill of materials.
o Design enclosure, sub-panel layout and wiring diagrams to meet UL/CUL/CSA certifications and NFPA79 wiring standards.
o Submit drawings for panel build. o Provide startup training on Controls at operator and maintenance levels.
o Provide local and remote support.
o Maintains software, programs, drawings, files by keeping them current and accurate.
o Travel in US and Canada, anticipated travel requirements 30-35%.
o Assists in acceptance test and debug of equipment from OEM’s.
o Write PLC, HMI, Drive & etc… programs.
o Machine & Panel acceptance tests.
o Coordinate and install new and used equipment. o
This position should possess the following skills/knowledge:
o Experience troubleshooting electrical components, AC/DC motors/drives, PLC’s
o Reading and creating electrical diagrams, Panel Layout & etc… using ACAD or ACAD Electrical.
o Modifying or creating PLC & HMI programs for the following manufacturers - Automation Direct, Siemens & Allen Bradley.
o Allen Bradley - RSLogix 5, 500 & 5000. Panel Builder & Factory Talk View.
o Automation Direct – DirectSoft 5 & C-More
o Siemens – Step 7, ProTool, WinCC Software.
o 2 or 4 year Engineering Degree (optional if equivalent work experience)
o Plastics industry o 5+ years
o Walk and crawl around equipment, also kneeling or sitting in front of a panel to terminate control wiring.
